College Prep Resources for Twelfth-Grade Students and Parents

Senior year is a time to celebrate what students have accomplished and look forward to everything that comes next. It is also a year of tests and college applications. With so much happening in such a short time, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and miss a crucial step. That’s where Zenith Prep Academy comes in.

Our college counseling program for twelfth graders was designed to help students keep their eyes on the prize: in the limited time that remains, what are the most crucial things they can do to build their profile? What is the most strategic set of colleges and majors to apply to that will let them meet their goals? How can they write essays that tell the most important parts of their story in a way that will stand out to admissions officers who read hundreds of applications a day?

Essential College Prep for Twelfth Graders

When students enroll in Zenith Prep Academy’s twelfth-grade college preparation program, they’re assigned a mentor who will work with them one-on-one. From building a college list to brainstorming and fine-tuning essays to figuring out how to best use the Common Application’s mysterious “Additional Information” section, Zenith has you covered.

Supported by Real College Admissions Expertise

Zenith’s counselors are supported on the backend by a team of former admissions officers from Yale, Columbia, New York University, UC Berkeley, and Stanford, and many other top colleges. This is in addition to the thousands of cumulative expertise on Zenith’s management and research teams (we’ve doing this for over a decade), and the insight of your individual counselor (our team has counselors to fit every possible student, from counselors who have their PhDs in research, to counselors with backgrounds working with hundreds of students who’ve already been admitted to top colleges). There’s a reason why the United Nations selected Zenith to serve as subject matter experts on Education to the United Nations.

Maximizing Extracurriculars Before Apps are Due

With limited time before college applications are due, students need to think carefully about how to build on the extracurricular work that they are already doing. There are a thousand different things that a student could do over their summer—get a summer job to demonstrate work ethic, apply to a competitive research program to show a depth of knowledge, take additional community classes to boost their GPA, pour more time into studying for the SAT/ACT, start up a new volunteer initiative or project… The list goes on and on. The answer to what mixture of things a student should do given the limited time is different for every student, and your Zenith counselor will show you the right path forward.

Comprehensive Application Support

The college application process can seem confusing. What platforms do you need to use? The Common Application? The Coalition Application? The UC Application? Wait! MIT has its own separate application system? What is Early Action, Early Decision, Regular Decision, Restrictive Early Action? How do you decide what deadlines and timelines you should choose? These are the kinds of questions that Zenith has over a decade answering, and our research team is constantly tracking how to answer these questions strategically as the landscape of college admissions constantly changes. We’re here to make what might seem to be a confusing jumble into a straightforward process.

Essay Writing Excellence

One big part of the application process are the essays: 650 words for the Personal Statement that will go to colleges, a detailed activities list that describes your extracurriculars, and additional information section that gives you a chance to explain unique circumstances and specific essays for each school where you will be asked about everything from “Why do you want to attend this school” to “What historical moment or event do you wish you could have witnessed?” (yes, that is actually a question on the Stanford application).

The story that you write in this mass of essays needs to be true to you and it needs to stand out in a context where admissions readers are zooming through hundreds of applications a day. Our brainstorming and editing services will give your student the best way to tell their story.
